Telangana death rate 1.1% lower than India’s 3%
10k beds to have oxygen facility
26 patients in home isolation needed to be brought to hospital
Only 600 beds are currently occupied
As many as 534 frontline warriors are infected with Coronavirus in Telangana. Of this, 295 instances of Coronavirus cases were reported among healthcare personnel.
As many as 258 healthcare staff in government hospitals, including doctors and nurses, were infected and have been cured of the virus, while a nurse working in the Chest Hospital succumbed to it.
Apart from this, 11 staffers of the health secretary’s office, including a deputy secretary, have been infected. The deputy secretary is getting treatment in Gandhi Hospital.
Another 37 cases were reported among medical staff working in private hospitals, while 184 police personnel working in the state have been infected with the virus. The virus has also infected 53 media persons and two GHMC workers.
Health Minister Eatala Rajender said, “In Telangana, the death rate is only 1.1% which is less than the country’s rate of 3%. Rural areas are safer with no cases.”
He said, “We have 17,021 beds ready. In a week, 10,000 beds will have an oxygen facility. Currently, oxygen facility is being set up for 3,500 beds and the remaining will be done shortly. Also, 4,700 doctors are being recruited.”
Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar said that in GHMC limits there are 10,666 cases of which 7,250 are active. He said, “A majority of these cases are in home isolation which has been successful. Only 26 were required to go to hospital for treatment.”
Rejecting allegations that government hospitals are not admitting suspect Covid-19 cases, the Health Minister said, “Of the 2,000 beds, only 600 are occupied. Gandhi Hospital is accepting all patients who have tested positive for coronavirus. Gandhi Hospital has no OP service, but for positive patients only. People have to go to King Koti Hospital to avail OP services.”
