With 975 Covid-19 cases reported on Monday, the number of infections in Telangana crossed the 15,000 mark on Monday, reaching 15,394 of which 9,559 are active cases.
Telangana tested 2,648 samples on Monday, of which 975 returned positive. GHMC recorded 861 cases of these 975.
The test positivity rate was nearly 36.8 per cent meaning that nearly one in every three (2.71) samples returned positive.
The state recorded six deaths on Monday, taking the toll to 253.
Health Minister Eatala Rajender said that Hyderabad is a cosmopolitan city so cases here are rising like in Delhi and Mumbai. “If necessary, we will impose lockdown at some places. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has asked the authorities to focus on areas where the number of cases is rising,” Rajender said.
Ranga Reddy recorded 40 and Medchal 20 cases.
With 410 persons being discharged on Monday, the number of people being cured rose to 5,582. The state has so far conducted 85,106 tests of which 2648 were done on Monday.
