Ration card holders can now purchase 1 kg red gram for ?67 and half a kg of sugar for ?17 at fair price shops. Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar inaugurated the distribution of these subsidised items at ration shops here on Tuesday.
Speaking at the event, Nadendla Manohar stated that arrangements have been made to provide 1 kg of red gram at ?67 and half a kg of sugar at ?17 to 1,48,43,671 ration cardholders across the State.
The Minister mentioned that following the directives of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, efforts were made to reduce the prices of rice and red gram twice.
He noted that currently, 1 kg red gram is priced at ?150, while one kilogram of rice (steamed BPT/Sona Masuri) is available for ?48 in Rythu Bazars across the state. Ration card holders can now buy one kilogram of red gram at a subsidised rate of ?67 in the ration shops.
Nadendla Manohar also emphasised that the government had provided 25 kilograms of rice, one kilogram of edible oil, 1 kg of sugar, 1 kg of red gram, 2 kg of onions, and 2 kg of potatoes to flood victims during the recent floods.
