100 yoga gurus set world record by performing Surya Namaskar 108 times

To mark Vasantha Panchami and Ratha Sapthami, the Andhra Pradesh Yoga Sabha organized a mass event where 100 Yog Gurus performed Surya Namaskar 108 times. This event took place at the Zilla Parishad Kalyana Mandapam in Machilipatnam, Krishna district, on Sunday, with the aim of entering the International Book of World Records. District Collector DK Balaji participated in the programme.
The 100 Yoga Gurus successfully performed Surya Namaskar 108 times as well as 12 types of yoga asanas, leading to the event being recognised in the International Book of World Records.
On the occasion, Collector Balaji emphasised that complete health and spiritual well-being can be attained through Surya Namaskar. He noted that the celebrations for Arasavalli Sri Suryanarayana Swamy Ratha Saptami began with Surya Namaskar on this day. He explained that performing Surya Namaskar during Brahma Muhurta enhances overall health and spiritual feelings.
Furthermore, he highlighted that the consistent practice of Surya Namaskar improves mental clarity and concentration. He described Surya Namaskar not merely as a physical exercise but also as a means to develop mind-body awareness. Balaji stated that yoga is a unique practice beneficial for physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Additionally, he mentioned that yoga encompasses various asanas, breathing techniques like pranayama, and Surya Namaskar, along with meditation mudras. He explained that Surya Namaskar combines all of these elements into a comprehensive practice. The Collector also noted that yoga gurus traditionally perform Surya Namaskar facing the sun at sunrise. On the occasion, TTD Dharmacharini Jonnalagadda Madhavi recited the Bhagavad Gita. This significant event has now been included in the International Book of World Records. The District Collector presented certificates to all participants in the program.
Prominent yoga gurus including Ghantasala Gurunatha Babu, Maddala Chintayya, Mahalakshmi, Mudigonda Sastry, and RD Prasad took part in the event alongside employees, teachers, businessmen, and students.
