An amount of 1000 cusecs of water has been released for Prakasam district through the NS right canal to fill tanks in the areas where water shortage prevailed. The officials on Friday started releasing 1000 cusecs of water to the district through the NS right canal.
Minister for Municipal Administration Audimulapu Suresh had striven for the release of water to the district through the NS right canal. The Minister had taken the water release issue to the notice of Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on July 17.
Official sources said that water levels have reached to dead storage in some of the CPWS scheme projects in the district which was apprised to the Chief Minister by the minister. The Minister directed the officials to fill up the SS tanks by using additional motors.
