NTR District Collector Dr S Dilli Rao has announced that the district administration is fully prepared to conduct postal ballot voting and home voting for the upcoming general elections, which are scheduled for May 13. Over 23,000 voters have opted for postal ballots, including vote from home, in the district, he said. Postal ballot voting will commence on May 4, while the home voting will be conducted from May 7 to 9, he added.
Collector Dilli Rao visited the Postal Ballot Facilitation Centre at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium in Vijayawada on Friday. Later, along with General Observers Manju Raj Paul and Narinder Singh Bali, he explained to the political party leaders the usage of postal ballots.
Speaking on the occasion, Dilli Rao said that the employees who are engaged in the general election duties can use their postal ballots. Additionally, 1,052 voters who are above 85 years or differently abled have opted for home voting, he said. For them, the home voting process will be conducted on May 7, 8 and 9, he added.
He explained that 6,191 Presiding Officers, 5,115 APOs and OPOs and others have opted for the postal ballots, Another 2,642 voters in other districts have also applied for the postal ballots, he added.
There are seven facilitation centres in the district for postal ballots, he said. For the Tiruvuru segment, ZPHS for Girls is the facilitation centre. For Vijayawada West, KBN College, Vijayawada Central – PB Siddhartha Arts and Science College, Mylavaram – Dr Lakireddy Balireddy Engineering College, Nandigama – KVR Degree College, and Jaggayyapet – JVJ ZPH for Boys are the facilitation centres, he added.
