12 arrested in city for ganja trade

Vijayawada police arrested 12 persons on Saturday for their involvement in the transportation, sale, and purchase of ganja in various parts of the city. Officials from the NTR District Police Commissio nerate’s Law & Order and Task Force seized 23 kg of ganja worth Rs 1.40 lakh during the operation. Among those arrested, eight were identified as repeat offenders with criminal records. The arrests were made in a park under the jurisdiction of the Governorpeta Police Station.
Taskforce Additional DCP A. Srinivasa Rao presented the arrested individuals to the media at the Police Command Control Room. The accused include Pemmadi Mahesh (Kankipadu), Kommuru Sai Kiran (Tadigadapa), Tenneru Rohith (Kankipadu), Katuru Mahesh (Kankipadu), Valla bhaneni Sai Sriram (Ayodhya Nagar), Boddu Umesh (Kankipadu), Shaik Akbar Bhasha (Bhavanipuram), Khagga Venkata Tarun (Poranki), Nadella Tarun Chowdary (Lenin Nagar), Shaik Fathima (Murali Nagar), and Dungala Murali (Poorna nandapeta).
ADCP Srinivasa Rao explai ned that the accused procured ganja at low prices and sold it at a profit to several individuals in the city. He revealed that the money earned was used for entertainment activities. Under the leadership of Director General of Police (DGP) Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao and NTR District Police Commi ssioner SV Rajasekhar Babu, efforts are underway to make Vijayawada a ‘Drugs-Free City.’
