13 long weekends in ’24 with seven Mondays and six Fridays holidays

Telangana government on Tuesday released a list of holidays for next year. There will be 13-long weekends in 2024 with seven Mondays and six Fridays being declared as general holidays.
The Telangana government declared that all its offices will remain closed on Sunday and second Saturdays except for the second Saturday on February 10. It will be a working day in order to compensate for the holiday on January 1.
“The Government of Telangana hereby notifies that during the year 2024 the days specified in Annexure-l shall be observed as general holidays by all the State government offices, including the days for festivals which fall on Sundays and also notify optional holidays for the State government offices as shown in Annexure-Il, including the days for occasions / festivals which are falling on Sundays,” read a notification from the State government.
Apart from the aforementioned holidays, the State government employees may avail five optional holidays during 2024 for the festivals. To avail these holidays, employees must put in a leave application in advance, which is subject to approval from the senior officers.
The government further specified that these holidays will not apply to industrial establishments and public undertakings under the State government’s control such as the Public Works Department and educational institutions. The administrative department will issue notifications regarding the holidays observed by these institutes.
The holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul Azha and Muharram will be updated as per the changes based on the moon sighting.
