13 municipal workers take ill due to suspected food poisoning

As many as 13 municipal workers took ill due to suspected food poisoning at Shadnagar in the district on Tuesday. The workers fell ill after eating midday meal prepared at the Municipal office here. The Municipal authorities have been providing midday meals to workers in view of ongoing works during cleanliness and greenery programme.  
The workers were immediately shifted to Government Community Hospital for treatment. The meal, provided by local Naganna catering was suspected to have led to the workers taking ill. They developed symptoms such as abdominal pain and vomiting.
caused the workers to suffer from vomiting and diarrhea. In response, local CPM and CITU leaders, including Raju and Srinu Naik, rushed to the scene and facilitated the workers’ admission to the hospital. They also suffered from diarrohoea.
Municipal Commissioner Cheema Venkanna stated that the afternoon lunch was procured from Naganna’s catering as usual.
