Minister for Agriculture Kakani Govardhan Reddy has said that 1,423 new pensions have been sanctioned in the Sarvepalli Assembly constituency.
The Minister participated in a programme organised at Yerragunta village in Venkatachalam mandal to hand over pension money to those who were newly sanctioned pensions. Speaking on the occasion, Kakani Govardhan Reddy said that notices were issued to 1,249 pension beneficiaries as part of a general verification of which the pensions of 1,228 beneficiaries continued.
In the previous government, Rs 400 crore was spent on various types of social pensions benefiting 39 lakh people, but the present YSRCP-led government is spending Rs 1,765 crore every month to disburse pensions for 64 lakh people including elderly people, disabled, widows, and artists.
As per the promise made by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy that the amount of pension will be gradually increased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 per month, the pension was hiked to Rs 2,750 from this month. In this way, in these three years, Rs 62,500 crore have been spent in the state for the poor, he claimed.
Govardhan Reddy said that Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy constantly strives for the upliftment of the poor. “Recently, when our government went to Chinna Cherukula village as part of the programme of Gadapa Gadapaku Mana Prabhutwam, the poor ST women expressed their happiness that there was no Chief Minister who had thought about the welfare so carefully in the past and they will always be indebted to Jagan Mohan Reddy,” he said.
Later, the Minister handed over the pension money to some widows and elderly people. DRDA P D Sambasiva Reddy and MPDO Sushmita and others participated in the event.
