1,700 teams formed to assess damage: Collector

NTR District Collector Dr G Srijana has announced that 1,700 teams have been formed to evaluate the property damage resulting from heavy rains and floods in the district. The teams would use a special app to register details of the affected houses and businesses, she said.
Special Principal Secretary RP Sisodia conducted a training programme at the Tummalapalli Kshetraiah Kalakshetra in Vijayawada on Sunday. Following the training programme, Collector Srijana stated to the media that, on the direction of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, immediate enumeration is being carried out to assist those affected by the heavy rains and floods.
Further, she said that in compliance with the Chief Minister’s directive, 1,700 teams comprising staff from the Revenue Department and Secretariats have been formed to assess the losses incurred by households and businesses. The enumeration teams have visited every house and business affected by the flood to register the losses, she said. For that, appropriate training has been provided to the team members in this regard, she added.
Additionally, she noted that the damage to 232,000 houses and commercial establishments i0n the affected areas will be evaluated across 170 secretariats. Each enumeration group will be led by a deputy Tahsildar, with the team consisting of a revenue inspector, ward secretary, volunteer, and police personnel, she said.
Moreover, each ward will be supervised by an IAS officer and a district officer during the damage assessment process, she explained.
Furthermore, Srijana said the damage assessment will prioritize the areas that recently emerged from the flood. The assessment process is expected to be completed within the next three to four days after the receding of flood water, she said. Victims have been urged to be available during the enumeration process to assist the teams, she added.
After that, she said that flood relief measures such as food, drinking water, milk, biscuits, and fruits have been distributed in the affected areas.
