Governor of Andhra Pradesh, Syed Abdul Nazeer, nominated Karri Padma Sree and Dr Kumbha Ravibabu as Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs) under the Governor’s quota on Thursday.
Karri Padma Sree is a member of the Backward Classes (BC) community and hails from Kakinada district.
She is a graduate in Economics and has been active in social and political circles for many years.
Dr Kumbha Ravibabu is a member of the Scheduled Tribes (ST) community and hails from Alluri Sitharama Raju district.
He is a doctor by profession and has been involved in social work for many years.
The new MLCs will replace Chadipiralla Sivanath Reddy and NMD Farooq, whose terms of office expired on July 20, 2023.
The nominations are seen as a way for the Governor to give representation to the BC and ST communities in the Legislative Council.
