IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu said the state government has decided to provide Internet facility to all houses with 20 MBPS speed through T-Fiber with the Centre’s cooperation.
He said the government is ready to provide Internet to 9,000 villages and there is a need to provide Internet connectivity to 5,000 more villages. The government asked the Centre to give Rs 9,000 crore for this project, he added.
Addressing the Prajapalana Dinotsavam celebrations at Karimnagar on Tuesday, Sridhar said the government selected three villages for a pilot project to provide Internet. They are Sangupeta village in Sangareddy district, Maddur village in Narayanpet district and Adavi Srirampur village in Peddapalli district.
He said that people can avail Internet facilities as well as cable TV. He said that those villages will get the services of 360-degree CCTV cameras and AI technology.
He said the government will test this in the three pilot project villages for two months and it will be expanded to cover the whole of Telangana by December.
He said the government installed the Rajiv Gandhi statue at the Secretariat as Rajiv Gandhi ‘sacrificed’ his life for the nation.
“Why is the BRS opposing the Rajiv Gandhi statue? BRS leaders are creating a ruckus regarding the Rajiv Gandhi statue only to get into the good books of Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah and it is part of their attempts to get close to the BJP,” he said.
Sridhar said that HYDRAA is intended only to protect state resources. He made it clear the Congress government will implement all its 6-guarantees.
He said the Congress government is celebrating September 17 as Peoples Governance Day. The people of Telangana fought against Gadi rule earlier and after the formation of Telangana state too. The Congress government has been trying to fulfil the aspirations of the people, he added.
