24 students fall sick after inhaling toxic gas

As many as 24 students of Class VI fell ill after being exposed to toxic gases released from the science lab during an experiment. The incident occurred at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Bapatla on Saturday. An experiment conducted by Sixth Class students in the science lab went awry, resulting in the release of toxic gases and subsequent breathing difficulties.
The students were promptly rushed to the government hospital in Bapatla for treatment.
Dr Vijayamma, District Medical & Health Officer (DMHO), stated that the students who experienced breathing problems were transferred to the government hospital and are now reported to be out of danger.
The incident happened when the teacher briefly left the classroom. One of the students had mixed coffee powder, salt, sugar, vinegar, and lemon soda, dried it at home, wrapped it in wet tissue paper, and brought it to school.
 When the girl unwrapped the tissue paper, the mixed ingredients released a strange smell, causing the students to fall ill.
Initially, the students were taken to Suryalanka Military Hospital before being transferred to Bapatla Government Hospital, where they received treatment and were later discharged.
A team of doctors examined the affected students, and all were discharged except for two.
One boy is receiving advanced treatment due to a pre-existing heart condition and has been moved to Guntur GGH, while a girl who had been experiencing fever for a couple of days is undergoing treatment at Bapatla Government Hospital. Joint Collector Subba Rao visited the affected students, and officials are investigating the incident.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu contacted the Bapatla district authorities to obtain further details about the situation. The CM spoke with officials to ensure that the affected students were safe and receiving appropriate medical care.
