24 SW hostels to get improved facilities in EG

East Godavari District Collector P. Prasanthi has announced that 24 social welfare hostels across the district will be upgraded with enhanced facilities. The required work for the improvements is set to begin soon.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Collector informed that the State Government has sanctioned Rs 378.05 lakh to carry out necessary repairs and provide additional amenities at these hostels.
The funds will be used for various upgrades, including roof repairs, flooring work, provision of drinking water facilities, toilet pipes, electrical works, installation of meshes on doors and windows to prevent mosquito breeding, and the construction of retaining walls.
The Andhra Pradesh Education and Welfare Infrastructure Development Corporation, along with officials from the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWS) and Panchayat Raj departments, has been responsible for overseeing the works.
The Collector further detailed the allocation of funds for repairs at welfare hostels in different constituencies. Rs 144.84 lakh has been earmarked for 10 hostels in the Gopalapuram constituency, Rs 70.01 lakh for six hostels in the Rajamahendravaram city constituency, Rs 32.51 lakh for two hostels in the Rajamahendravaram rural constituency, Rs 17.05 lakh for one hostel in Jaggampeta constituency, Rs 11.05 lakh for a hostel in Peddapuram, Rs 11.29 lakh for a hostel in Rajanagaram, Rs 52.53 lakh for three hostels in Nidadavole constituency, and another Rs 52.53 lakh for two hostels in Kovvur constituency.
Collector Prasanthi has instructed officials to complete all the works by the first week of March.
