24×7 control rooms set up in AP

Must read

In response to the heavy rainfall, K. Vijayanand, Special Chief Secretary of the Energy Department, has directed the CMDs of Discoms to establish round-the-clock control rooms. The officials have been instructed to address power supply issues promptly and to remain vigilant as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts strong surface winds and heavy rains due to a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal.
Vijayanand, alongside APGENCO MD KVN Chakradhar Babu, AP Transco Joint Managing Director Kirti Chekuri, and other senior Power Department officials, reviewed the situation. He noted that Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Energy Minister Gottipati Ravikumar are continuously monitoring the power sector.
The Special Chief Secretary emphasised that adequate measures should be in place to ensure the public faces no difficulties with the electricity supply. He called for sufficient resources and personnel to handle any power-related incidents and carry out necessary repairs.
Vijayanand urged officials and staff to establish control rooms operating 24/7 at the circle and division levels to address power issues arising from the rains and to respond swiftly to complaints. He also advised electrical workers to remain alert, assess damage caused by the rain, and submit reports accordingly. No officer is to take leave until the situation is normalised, Vijayanand stated.
The IMD has predicted strong surface winds of 50-60 km/h. Vijayanand appealed to the public to report any electricity supply issues immediately and to stay vigilant to avoid electrical hazards. He warned that the government would take strict action against anyone found negligent in their duties.
