250 TS students in Manipur to be flown back today

A special cell has been set up to monitor the situation in Manipur and to protect the Telangana people living there.

Around 250 students belonging to Telangana are studying in various educational institutions in Imphal and surrounding areas.

The Government of Telangana has decided to immediately evacuate the Telangana students from Imphal to Hyderabad by air. A special flight has been arranged from Imphal to Hyderabad on May 7 for this.

TS Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari contacted the Chief Secretary of Manipur to facilitate the safe transit of Telangana students from Imphal to Hyderabad. In the context of the disturbances in Manipur, the Government of Telangana is taking all steps possible to ensure the safety of Telangana students and people staying in Manipur, the government said in a statement.

DGP Anjani Kumar said that a 24-hour helpline has been started for Telangana residents staying in Manipur.

“If any resident of Telangana is stranded in Manipur, they can contact the TS Helpline number 7901643283 under the supervision of DIG Sumathi IPS or email dgp@tspolice.gov.in for assistance. The TS police are coordinating with Manipur Police to provide support,” the DGP said.

The Special Helpline Cell at the DGP’s office is coordinating the evacuation.

The Chief Secretary and the DGP are in touch with Manipur state government officials to ensure the safety of Telanganites there.
