In a significant development, the coalition government has fulfilled another election promise by issuing permanent caste certificates to 28.62 lakh families, Revenue Minister Anagani Sathya Prasad said. He stated that the initiative was carried out by the revenue department, which has been actively involved in the distribution process.
The Minister explained that revenue officials reviewed data of over 34.37 lakh families and conducted field inspections to ensure accuracy. Village Revenue Officers (VROs) were deployed to deliver the permanent caste certificates directly to households.
“The caste certificates are essential for school and college admissions, job reservations, and availing government welfare schemes. This initiative eliminates the need for families to visit MRO offices for these crucial documents,” Sathya Prasad said.
He further noted that nearly 5 lakh families could not receive their caste certificates due to various reasons. Those who believe they are eligible can apply through their respective village or ward secretariats or at Andhra Pradesh Seva Kendras. Upon application, revenue officials will conduct field assessments and issue the caste certificates on the spot, ensuring a hassle-free process, he added.
