In a tragic incident, three women drowned in River Gowthami when they were going to Venkateswara temple at Vadapalli village in Atreyapuram mandal in Konaseema district on Sunday.
Police said that the deceased women Koppireddy Yesamma (60), Karri Sunita (16) and Saluri Satya Ananta Lakshmi (40) belonged to Chilakalapadu village.
They were going to Venkateswara temple located at Vadapalli in Atreyapuram mandal. When they were crossing the Gowthami River to reach the temple, they drowned in the river. The bodies were fished out of the river. One of the deceased Karri Sunita passed 10 th class recently and was preparing to join a college.
Atreyapuram SI S Srinivas registered a case and shifted the bodies to the GGH for postmortem. Telugu Desam party leader Bandaru SanjivIT consoled the bereaved families at the hospital.
