Two persons were arrested for selling 4 kg cannabis at Marrichetlapalem village in Prakasam district on Monday.
SP Malika Garg told the media on a tip-off a police team led by Ongole Rural CI V Srinivasa Reddy and SI Ramireddy conducted a raid at Marrichetlapalem village and found two persons Subrahmnsu Jena and Rathikanta Barika were selling ganja.
The two accused belonged to Odisha state and were working at a granite factory Chimakurthy. In a bid to earn money quickly, they started selling ganja. The district SP appreciated Ongole DSP V Narayana Swamy Reddy, Ongole Rural CI, V. Srinivasa Reddy, Cheemakurthi SI, G. Ramireddy, Santhanuthalapadu SI V. Anjaneyulu, Maddipadu SI B. Srikanth and staff for the seizure of the ganja by arresting the two smugglers and presenting them with certificates of appreciation.
The district SP warned that those who transport, sell or consume ganja in the district would face strict legal action. The SP appealed to the people to provide any information related to ganja to the local police or dial 112 or police WhatsApp number 9121102266. Those who provide accurate information about the presence of ganja and drugs would be given adequate reward, the details of those who gave the information would be kept confidential, the SP said.
