Minister for Energy Gottipati Ravi Kumar has said that 40 boats and other materials have been kept ready to take rescue and relief operations in the flood-affected villages of the district. The Minister reviewed the flood situation with District Collector Venkata Murali Krishna, MP Tenneti Krishna Prasad and former minister Nakka Ananda Babu here on Monday and they visited some of the affected areas. The Minister said that the Prakasam barrage has received an unprecedented 11 lakh cusecs of water which would affect some of the areas in Bapatla district. The Minister directed the government departments to coordinate and work to carry out relief operations. “Over 40 boats have been kept ready to press into service. All arrangements have been made to distribute needed essential commodities, drinking water and food packets to the flood victims,” the Minister said and appealed to the people living in vulnerable places to go to the relief centres.
