49 red sanders logs seized; 16 held

The police seized 49 red sanders logs weighing over 1 tonne and arrested 16 red sanders smugglers at B Mattam village in Lankamalla mandal in YSR district.

SP KKN Anburajan told the media on Sunday that on a tip-off a police team conducted a raid in the Lankamalla forest area and seized 49 red sander logs which were kept ready for transportation.

The police also arrested 16 red sander smugglers and seized Eicher Lorry, two Cars, eight mobile phones, and three axes. Most of the arrested smugglers belonged to Tamil Nadu state.

The SP appreciated forest zone DSP Chenchu Babu, SDOP Vanshidhar Goud, taskforce CIs Nagabhusana, Nagendra Kumar, Mohan Reddy, Mudanur, RSI Pothuraju, and other officials for arresting the smugglers and seizing the logs.
