5 interstate burglars arrested, Rs 23 lakh booty recovered

The police have arrested five notorious interstate burglars and recovered stolen valuables worth Rs 23 lakh, including gold and silver ornaments.
Addressing the media on Monday, SP K Pratap Shiva Kishore said that the arrested individuals were identified as Vempala Chanti, Saka Marraju, Potula Ammiraju, Gogulamanda Salman Raju, and Kosuri Srinivasa Rao.
The gang was involved in multiple burglaries across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Their modus operandi involved identifying locked houses and committing thefts during the night.
Special teams led by CIs V Koteswara Rao, P Krishna, Ch Rajasekhar, and SI K Prasad were formed to track the culprits. Using advanced technology, the police identified and arrested the gang members.
The key accused, Vempala Chanti and Kosuri Srinivasa Rao, were apprehended near Hanuman Nagar bridge. During interrogation, they revealed the whereabouts of their accomplices, who were later arrested at Kotturu Indiramma Colony.
The police recovered 251 grams of gold jewellery and 13 kg of silver ornaments, collectively valued at over Rs 23 lakh.
Interestingly, the gang had also targeted the residences of senior officials. A total of 16 cases were registered against them in Eluru, Kakinada, Guntur, Bhimavaram, Hyderabad, and Khammam.
The SP commended the police personnel for successfully apprehending the burglars.
