5 killed as car collides with container truck

A horrific road accident on Monday claimed the lives of five people, including two women and a young boy, and left two others critically injured. The incident occurred when a car, carrying a family of seven, collided with a container truck at Thotapalli village in Pakala mandal on the Puthalapattu-Naidupet national highway.

The family, hailing from Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, had visited the hill shrine of Tirumala and was returning home when their vehicle crashed into the rear end of the truck. The collision was so severe that the car’s roof was completely torn off, and the bodies were scattered across the highway, creating a shocking and tragic scene. Half of the car was wedged into the back of the container truck, according to police reports.

The five deceased, including a nine-year-old boy, two women, and two men, died on the spot. The injured were rushed to the government hospital in Tirupati. Authorities are yet to formally identify the victims.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed his deep sorrow over the tragedy and instructed district officials to ensure the best medical care for the injured. Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan also conveyed his condolences and extended his sympathies to the victims’ families.

Minister for Transport M. Ramprasad Reddy has contacted district officials to ascertain the cause of the accident and has pledged to offer support to the grieving families.
