In a horrific road accident, six persons, including four women, were killed and another was injured near Srikalahasti on Sunday. The incident took place when a car carrying a group of seven people from Vijayawada collided with a lorry at Mittakandriga village.
According to the police, the victims and the injured were all residents of Vijayawada. The group had visited the Tirumala hill shrine and was en route to the Srikalahasti temple when the accident took place.
Reports indicate that the collision happened as the car attempted to overtake a heavy truck travelling in the opposite direction. The excessive speed of the car contributed to the severity of the crash, resulting in the instantaneous death of six individuals. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the car was severely mangled.
One person, identified as Bharat, sustained critical injuries and has been admitted to the Area Hospital in Srikalahasti. The deceased have been identified as Ramesh, Narasimha Murthy, Rajyalakshmi, Srilatha, Akshaya, and Venkataramanamma.
Expressing his deep sorrow over the tragic road accident, TDP chief and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the grieving families. He described the incident as unfortunate, especially considering that the victims were pilgrims returning from the Tirumala hill shrine.
