As many as six youth were feared drowned in an irrigation tank at Thoderu village in Podalakuru mandal on Sunday evening.
Police said that 10 youth went to the village to enjoy the holiday. They went into the tank on a boat that capsized in the middle of the tank. However, four of them swam ashore safely and six others went missing. The police gave the names of the missing youth as Surendra (19), Raghu (24), Balaji (21), Trinath (18), Kalyan (28) and Prasad (29).
CI Sangameshwar Rao and SI Karimullah rushed to the village and were monitoring the operations in the tank to trace the missing youths. More details of the incident awaited.
Meanwhile, Minister for Agriculture Kakani Govardhan Reddy expressed shock over the missing of six youths in the tank. Thoderu is his native village. The Minister, who is presently on a Kerala visit, is coming back to the village, officials said.
