6,100 constables to be recruited: HM

Home and Disaster Management Minister Vangalapudi Anitha has announced that the coalition government is prioritising the constable recruitment process in the State, which had previously come to a halt. The Minister confirmed that the physical ability tests (PMT and PET) for filling 6,100 posts will be completed within five months.
The Minister reported that 4,59,182 candidates had appeared for the preliminary examination conducted in 2022, out of which 95,209 were selected for the next stage. The recruitment process for 3,580 Civil Constables and 2,520 APSP Constables was postponed due to MLC elections and other reasons.
Additionally, she mentioned that 3,622 Home Guards participated in the preliminary written test, with only 382 qualifying. One hundred Home Guards who did not qualify filed 14 writ petitions in the High Court, requesting the court to declare a separate merit list for Home Guards, treating them as a distinct category. The Home Minister explained that the court had issued an interim order allowing these hundred Home Guards to proceed to the next stage. She noted that the previous government had halted the recruitment process without reaching any decision after that.
Following the coalition government’s awareness of this issue, the Minister stated that they would seek legal opinion and promptly continue with the second phase (PMT/PET) of the recruitment process.
Minister Vangalapudi Anitha also mentioned that complete details regarding the second-stage application form will be made available on the State Level Police Recruitment Board’s website (slprb.ap.gov.in). Furthermore, she indicated that the third phase, which involves the main examination (Final Written Exam), will be conducted for those who qualify in the second phase.
Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh thanked Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha who announced that the constable recruitment examination process which was stopped halfway immediately. The minister said that the unemployed people who came to Praja Darbhar brought to his notice the difficulties they were facing due to the postponement of the physical fitness tests which were to be conducted in the second stage of recruitment after the preliminary examination. When their request was sent to the Home Minister for consideration, the HM responded positively and announced that the recruitment process would be initiated which is a positive move for the unemployed who passed the Constable Eligibility Test, said Minister Lokesh.
