The Government of Andhra Pradesh has signed two important Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), reinforcing its commitment to clean energy and digital transformation. These agreements, signed with Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) and the Wadhwani Foundation (WF), mark crucial steps toward sustainable development and AI-driven governance in the state.
In a major push for renewable energy, TPREL, a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, inked an MoU with the state government to develop up to 7,000 MW (7 GW) of renewable energy projects. The agreement, formalized in Amaravati, aims to explore solar, wind, and hybrid energy solutions, with or without storage, under the state’s Integrated Clean Energy (ICE) Policy. With an estimated investment of Rs 49,000 crores, this initiative aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s vision of becoming a renewable energy hub, contributing to India’s sustainability goals and socio-economic growth.
Deepesh Nanda, CEO & MD of TPREL, expressed optimism about the collaboration, stating that the project would drive large-scale renewable adoption. IT Minister Nara Lokesh highlighted the MoU’s potential to attract investments worth Rs 10 lakh crores and create 7.5 lakh jobs in the state.
In another strategic move, Andhra Pradesh signed an MoU with WF to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies into governance. Signed by Katamneni Bhaskar, Secretary of ITE&C, and Prakash Kumar, CEO of Wadhwani Center for Government Digital Transformation, the agreement seeks to enhance service delivery, policy-making, and capacity-building through AI, Machine Learning (ML), and Generative AI.
The partnership focuses on AI-driven policy frameworks, digital upskilling of government personnel, and data-driven governance improvements. WF’s flagship training programs, ‘AI Champions’ and ‘AI Enablers,’ will equip government employees with AI expertise to enhance governance efficiency.
These MoUs collectively signify Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology and clean energy for economic growth, improved public services, and a sustainable future.
