BJP trying to take ‘revenge’ on South India

Must read

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said the BJP which is in power at the Centre is taking up delimitation only to take ‘revenge’ on South Indian states. The CM demanded an all-party meeting on the delimitation issue.
Attending the India Today Conclave 2025 in New Delhi on Friday, Revanth said the BJP has no representation in South India.
“Although the BJP came to power for the third time at the Centre, the BJP won only 29 seats in South India out of 240 LS seats. The BJP is not in power in South India. It is a junior partner in Andhra Pradesh and so the BJP is trying to take ‘revenge’ on South India. The BJP is getting ready to favour North Indian states through delimitation,” he said.
The CM said that southern states implemented family planning as per the directions of the Centre. The CM said the Centre should put off delimitation for 30 years and see how the population would increase in South Indian states.
The CM said the LS seats in Uttar Pradesh will increase from 80 to 120 and in Tamil Nadu from 39 to 60 if delimitation is done on a pro-rata basis. The CM said that not only South Indian states but states like Punjab will also suffer losses due to delimitation. However, the BIMARU states comprising UP, Bihar, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh will gain if delimitation is done based on population, the CM said.
Revanth said that Hindi is not the national language. But it is a language spoken by a large number of people. The BJP is doing a lot for Hindi, but what is it doing for Telugu, he asked. There is no problem if Hindi is made an optional subject in the south. However, it is not proper to impose Hindi forcibly, he added.
