District in-charge Minister and Minister for Roads and Buildings, Investments, and Infrastructure Development BC Janardhan Reddy visited Rayachoti in Annamaiah district on Saturday to review ongoing infrastructure projects.
Senior officials from the Roads and Buildings (R&B) department welcomed the minister with a bouquet and a shawl. They apprised him that Rs 14 crore had been allocated for pothole repairs in the district, with 99 per cent of the work completed. They also informed him that all bills for the completed works had been uploaded for review.
The minister assured that payments to contractors, who had completed the work on time, would be released without delay. He directed officials to ensure quality standards were maintained throughout the process.
When he inquired about projects under GO No. 2, officials stated that no work had been allocated yet. They cited a shortage of work inspectors and the need for fresh recruitment, which was causing delays in project execution. The minister suggested deploying secretariat staff as an interim measure and assured that he would take up the issue with the district collector.
Officials also briefed him on the incomplete 4.5 km stretch of the Rayachoti ring road, stating that Rs 8 crore would be required to complete the bypass construction.
A proposal to build an R&B guest house near the Veligallu project was also discussed. Mandipalli Lakshmiprasad Reddy, the minister’s brother, informed him that government land was available for the project and that the facility could help promote tourism. The minister responded positively and assured his support.
Later, BC Janardhan Reddy, accompanied by Minister S Savitha, visited the residence of MLA R Madhavi in Kadapa. They felicitated MLA Madhavi and Srinivasa Reddy, in the presence of Telugu Desam Party leaders and workers from the Kadapa constituency.
