Last week saw the release of two notable Telugu films—Court, a courtroom drama produced by Nani and Dilruba, starring Kiran Abbavaram.
Prior to Court’s release, Nani made a bold statement, challenging audiences that if they didn’t like the film, they could skip his upcoming project Hit 3. His confidence paid off—Court has turned into a massive blockbuster.
In just three days, the film recovered its production costs and started generating profits. The OTT rights have already been sold for a lucrative amount. The movie has grossed approximately Rs 24 crore within its opening weekend.
Directed by debutant Ram Jagadeesh, the film has also performed well in overseas markets. Veteran actor Sivaji, who plays a crucial role as Mangapathi, has made a strong comeback with this film. Priyadarshi also plays a significant role, while Sridevi and Harsha Roshan star as the young lead pair.
On the other hand, Kiran Abbavaram’s Dilruba has failed to make an impact. Directed by debutant Vishnu Karun, the film received negative reviews right from its premiere screenings. Poor word-of-mouth further diminished its chances at the box office.
After delivering a hit with KA, Kiran Abbavaram had high expectations for Dilruba, but unfortunately, it has backfired completely.
