REPORTERS’ DIARY : BRS trolls their own in bid to target Surekha

In a bid to corner Minister Konda Surekha, the BRS digital battalion seems to have scored a self-goal. A social media handle aligned with the party posted a tender worth Rs.113.26 crore, alleging that the contract was handed over to Surekha’s follower Satyamurthy. The post hinted at murky dealings, trying to drag the minister into a controversy. As expected, KTR’s digital team took the bait and amplified the attack. But what they didn’t factor in was the tangled web of political ‘rishtedari’ that would boomerang back. Turns out, Satyamurthy’s son is married to none other than the daughter of BRS ex-whip Vinay Bhaskar’s brother. Oops. While the trolls went all in, calling out alleged favouritism, they inadvertently ended up trolling the families of their senior leaders. As for Minister Surekha, she wasn’t amused. Her office, fuming at the baseless slander, went ahead and filed an FIR – categorically stating that neither she, her daughter nor her son-in-law had anything to do with the said contract. Moral of the story? Political trolling without family charts is a dangerous game. And this one’s proof that when you play with matches, sometimes your own house catches fire.
