Minister for Civil Supplies Nadendla Manohar laid the foundation stone for a high-level bridge at Kollipara village in Tenali constituency on Sunday.
The bridge, to be constructed across the Krishna West Canal, is estimated to cost Rs 4.19 crore. Union Minister of State Pemmasani Chandrasekhar and MLC Alapati Rajendra Prasad were also present at the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Manohar said the project would benefit around 20,000 people, ensuring safer and more convenient travel. He emphasized that the coalition government was allocating the necessary funds and fast-tracking development projects to improve both towns and villages.
He announced that funds would soon be sanctioned for a bypass road beneficial to farmers and assured that construction would be expedited. He also revealed that Rs 97.60 crore had been allocated for the development of Tenali constituency for 2025-26, reaffirming the government’s commitment to both development and welfare initiatives.
Union Minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar highlighted the coalition government’s focus on Tenali’s development and praised Manohar’s efforts. He criticized the previous YSRCP government for failing to sanction funds for the bridge and noted that the project was approved with the Centre’s support.
Acknowledging that NREGA funds were initially lower for Tenali, he credited Manohar for securing an additional Rs 10 crore. He also lauded his efforts in bringing Rs 36 crore in funds to the constituency within just nine months.
MLC Alapati Rajendra Prasad, along with leaders and activists from TDP, BJP, and Jana Sena, as well as local public representatives, attended the event.
