Parking issues at MGBS Metro Station entrance

Must read

For over six months, parking and access issues were noticed at the MGBS Metro Station entrance stairs which has been causing inconvenience for public pickup and drop-off.
When asked, a member of HDC at ESI Hospital, Nacharam, G Vishal, raised concerns about the situation. Earlier, parking at the Metro station was free, but for the past six months, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), in collaboration with Parkmate Smart Parking Solution, started charging parking fees, and Parkmate began blocking the area and restricting access.
More concerning, Vishal noted, is that Parkmate has blocked the Metro entrance, making it difficult for commuters, especially senior citizens, persons with disabilities and others needing easy access.
He shared that parking management is issuing tickets even when vehicles briefly enter to drop off passengers.
They inform complainants to direct complaints to TSRTC officials, offering no explanation.
Vishal stated that he wrote to TSRTC MD VC Sajjanar, but received no serious response.
He emphasized that while parking fees is not the issue, at least elderly passengers and children should be allowed closer entrance access.
He also noted that barricades force passengers to get down far from the entrance, causing difficulties for those with baggage.
He noted that parking fares have been increased of late, making even short-term emergency parking costly.
Vishal urged MGBS Metro authorities and TSRTC to take immediate action to restore proper access, emphasizing that public transport must prioritize commuter convenience and accessibility.
