The Congress and Communist parties staged protests on Friday opposing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Visakhapatnam. The protestors, wearing black badges, raised the slogan ‘Modi go back’ and demanded the announcement of Special Category Status, cancellation privatisation of Vizag Steel Plant (VSP) and fulfilment of the bifurcation promises.

APCC president Dr. Sake Sailajanath participated in the protest camp at Kurnool and wrote an Open Letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding a statement on the promises made for the development of AP including SCS. He alleged that Modi has blocked SCS, Modi is credited with pushing back the backward areas further by ignoring the bifurcation promises and not funding AP. He stated that the people of the State are noticing the injustice done by Modi to AP. Dr. Sailajanath demanded that PM Modi make a statement on the implementation of the guarantees contained in the AP Reorganisation Act.

APCC working president Sk Masthan Vali staged a protest with black flags at Guntur demanding Narendra Modi Go Back. Vali recalled that PM Modi promised to provide funds for the establishment of a new capital for the residuary AP State which would be better than the national capital Delhi and the completion of Polavaram as a national project but these promises were not fulfilled.

He said that Vizag Steel Plant is selling the dignity and rights of Andhra people, did not announce Special Category Status and no funds for backward North Andhra and Rayalaseema regions.
