KTR blasts Congress brutality, Rahul’s silence

Must read

BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) strongly condemned the Congress Government for brutally suppressing the University of Hyderabad (UoH) students who were protesting to save their campus land.
After meeting the students at the Telangana Bhavan on Monday, KTR accused the government of prioritising profits from real estate deals over education and the environment.
The students told KTR that the government is attempting to grab 400 acres of UoH land under the pretext of development. Expressing solidarity, KTR assured them of BRS’s full support.
 “Why is the government in

a hurry to destroy this ecological treasure? Does Hyderabad need another concrete jungle costing Rs 30,000 crore when the western part of the city is already choking with buildings?” KTR asked.
He pointed out that the UOH and its surroundings serve as one of the last remaining lungs of Hyderabad.
Questioning Rahul Gandhi’s silence, KTR said, “You spoke about Aarey and Hasdeo forests. You have visited UOH twice in the past. Why this selective silence when your government is attacking students and destroying greenery?”
“Can’t you hear the cries of small animals being crushed under bulldozers? Haven’t you seen the visuals of students being dragged and beaten?” he added.
Highlighting UOH’s legacy, KTR recalled that it was established after the first Telangana Movement and has contributed significantly to academics.
He accused the Congress of betraying this legacy by reviving a controversial plan first proposed in 2003, meant to develop sports facilities.
He revealed that despite boasting that 45,000 acres are available for projects like Future City and Pharma City, the government is targeting UOH’s 400 acres.
KTR condemned the police action inside the UOH campus, conducted without the Vice-Chancellor’s consent, stating that female students were manhandled and their clothes torn.

Two students have been illegally detained. “The government must reveal their whereabouts immediately,” KTR demanded, calling upon the DGP to intervene.

He appealed to all political parties and alumni currently in the Congress government, including ministers Bhatti Vikramarka and Sridhar Babu, to take a stand for the students.
