Sridhar appears in court

Must read

IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu appeared before the Nampally Court on Wednesday in connection with a case filed against him during BRS rule.
The case is about Sridhar Babu’s demand for fair compensation to families affected by the Kaleshwaram Project who had lost their lands and homes during its execution.
The case, registered in 2017 by the Basantnagar Police in Peddapalli district, also named Harkara Venugopal, Annayya Goud, Sashi Bhushan Kache, and nine others along with Sridhar Babu. The charges were filed after a protest led by Sridhar Babu demanding rehabilitation and compensation for the displaced families.
Although it was a peaceful demonstration, the BRS government booked the leaders under Sections 147 (rioting), 353 (assault on public servant), 427 (mischief causing damage) and Section 149 (unlawful assembly) of IPC.  The case drew attention as another example of opposition leaders facing cases for protesting against the BRS administration.
