BRS Working President KT Rama Rao announced on Thursday that his party would reclaim the disputed 400 acres of HCU at Kancha Gachibowli and convert it into an eco-park if voted to power.
Addressing a press conference at the Telangana Bhavan, KTR warned real estate players against purchasing the land under what he called the Congress Government’s “biscuit-throwing” deals, promising that BRS would retrieve every inch of that and dedicate it to the people of Hyderabad.
KTR said the eco-park would become a landmark like Manhattan’s Central Park, serving as a green haven for students and Hyderabadis. He accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of commodifying the land and warned prospective buyers of inevitable losses if the BRS returned to power.
Supporting HCU students who have been protesting for over 10 days, KTR hailed their determination and compared their protest to student movements during the Telangana statehood struggle.
He criticised the Congress for failing to hold talks with the students and warned that the BRS would lead a massive march to HCU if the government did not reverse its decision.
KTR attacked Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, calling him a “real estate broker” rather than a leader.
“You claim to work 18 hours a day. Spend at least 10 minutes thinking like a father about the next generation. Don’t behave like a broker,” he said.
He said the Congress government had bulldozed ahead without sensitivity or respect for democratic values and accused ministers of treating people like slaves.
He ridiculed Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka’s claim that wildlife images from HCU were AI-generated, saying, “Bhatti himself is the AI here.”
KTR charged that the government was axing trees and disturbing the ecosystem during court holidays to avoid judicial scrutiny.
Referring to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, KTR recalled how the BRS had facilitated Rahul’s visit to the HCU during the Rohith Vemula protests but pointed out that the current Congress government is now using force against students.
“Rahul spoke of a ‘shop of love,’ but Telangana has become a ‘house of hatred’ under Congress rule,” he said and challenged Rahul to visit HCU and face the students.
