Medtech innovation hub: AMTZ, FORGE join handsStrategic partnership launches Forge Factory, Academy, and Accelerator to empower startups

In a major push for indigenous medical technology, Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) has joined hands with FORGE Innovation & Ventures to establish a comprehensive innovation ecosystem at Medivalley Research Square, Visakhapatnam.
The collaboration will roll out three key initiatives—Forge Factory, Forge Academy, and Forge Accelerator—aimed at providing end-to-end support for startups in the medtech sector. The goal is to position AMTZ as a national hub for affordable and homegrown healthcare solutions.
Forge Factory will offer startups access to advanced labs, prototyping tools, and testing facilities, enabling real-time device development.
Forge Academy will provide specialised training, mentorship, and regulatory support to equip innovators with industry-specific skills. Meanwhile, Forge Accelerator will back early-stage ventures with seed funding, business strategy, and access to domestic and international markets.
Describing the partnership as a “milestone in building self-reliance,” Dr. Jitendar Sharma, Managing Director and Founder CEO of AMTZ, stated, “This collaboration paves the way for a robust innovation ecosystem that empowers startups to transform bold ideas into meaningful healthcare solutions. It’s a stride toward achieving self-reliance in the medtech sector.”

Situated within the Medivalley Research Square—a growing cluster of medical device manufacturers, research units, and healthcare technology firms—the new Forge initiatives are expected to further consolidate the zone’s position as a springboard for next-generation medtech innovations. Experts believe the collaboration could play a pivotal role in addressing local healthcare challenges while also boosting India’s global competitiveness in the medical device sector.
