Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to take swift steps towards establishing a special advisory council to enhance governance in the state. The council will comprise experts from esteemed institutions including the Gates Foundation, IIT Madras, and other leading organisations. The directive came during a review meeting on the Real-Time Governance System (RTGS) held at the Secretariat on Monday.
Naidu set a deadline of June 12 for all government services capable of being delivered digitally to be made accessible via the ‘Manamitra’ WhatsApp Governance app. He stressed the need to accelerate data integration with RTGS to facilitate this transformation. Highlighting the importance of expert insight, the Chief Minister called for the immediate formation of an advisory panel to explore innovative ways to improve public service delivery. He underscored that citizens should no longer be required to visit government offices for availing services — everything should be available through their mobile phones.
As part of the digital push, the government is targeting to expand WhatsApp-based services to over 500 by June. Currently, 254 services are already live, with more being added weekly.
The long-term goal is to provide more than 1,000 services through the app. Feedback from citizens and officials is being collected to prioritise the most in-demand services.
In a major technological initiative, Naidu also discussed the development of a ‘Drone City’ near Orvakal, envisioned as a hub for drones, IoT, satellite systems, and deep tech.
