Nayanthara is one of the superstars of South Indian cinema, and most of her films do good business. Her latest film Test was released directly on the OTT platform Netflix. Nayanthara generally doesn’t promote any of her films, as she puts this condition before signing any project. So, she never attends the promotional events of her movies.
Also, Nayanthara has never lent her own voice in films—until now. Despite acting in more than 80 films, Test marks the first time she has used her real voice on screen.
Test stars Nayanthara, Madhavan, Siddharth and Meera Jasmine in key roles. But the most interesting aspect is that Nayanthara has dubbed for herself for the first time in a Tamil film. “It was not dubbed after the shoot. The makers used sync sound,” said a source. Sync sound means that the dialogues are recorded live on set during shooting, eliminating the need for post-dubbing.
“Nayanthara agreed to lend her voice for this film. She even went to the director’s office, collected the dialogue papers in advance and prepared thoroughly,” added the source. As a result, her performance—especially in emotional scenes—stands out. After its release on Netflix, Test ranked number one for a few days and currently remains in the platform’s top five.
