In a striking form of protest against administrative apathy, Malkajgiri MLA Marri Rajasekhar Reddy sat under a tree outside the municipal circle office, holding a grievance redressal session for local residents and highlighting the absence of a dedicated MLA camp office in the constituency.
With a table and chair set up under the open sky, Rajasekhar Reddy listened to citizens’ petitions and forwarded them to officials, accusing authorities of showing scant regard for the issues faced by the people. The MLA said this symbolic protest was necessary to draw attention to the government’s failure to fulfil even basic commitments made under the Praja Palana programme.
“From subsidised gas to the 200-unit electricity promise, from pension delays to pending ration cards and Indiramma housing, the people are getting tired of waiting,” he said. He further alleged that the disabled are facing unnecessary hurdles due to the new Central guidelines on Sadaram certificates and that deserving beneficiaries of Rajiv Yuva Vikas schemes are being ignored.
Rajasekhar Reddy compared the present situation with the previous BRS government, where most constituencies had functioning MLA camp offices that made it easier for people to access their representatives. “Despite repeated appeals to the Collector, GHMC Commissioner, Additional Commissioner (Estates), Zonal Commissioner, and Deputy Commissioner, nothing has moved.
Everyone is passing the buck,” he said.
