In a historic move towards India’s technological advancement, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday announced that the state’s pioneering Quantum Valley will be dedicated to the nation on January 1, 2026.
IBM, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and the Government of Andhra Pradesh have announced the establishment of the country’s first Quantum Valley Tech Park in Amaravati. The facility will house India’s largest quantum computer—an IBM Quantum System Two equipped with a 156-qubit Heron processor—marking a significant milestone under the National Quantum Mission.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu hailed the initiative as a transformative moment for India’s scientific and economic progress. “With IBM, TCS, L&T and others on board, the Quantum Valley Tech Park will make India a global hub for quantum innovation,” he said. “It will create high-end employment, attract top talent, and drive critical advancements in science and industry.”
The cutting-edge IBM installation will offer researchers, developers, and industry professionals access to advanced quantum hardware. The park is poised to become a central hub for India’s growing quantum ecosystem, fostering both pioneering research and commercial applications.
Jay Gambetta, Vice President of IBM Quantum, described the collaboration as a pivotal move. “Our partnership with the Andhra Pradesh Government and TCS accelerates India’s path toward quantum advantage by uniting talent, technology, and mission alignment.”
TCS will be instrumental in developing practical applications across domains such as life sciences, materials science, energy, cryptography, supply chains, and sustainable manufacturing. “Our hybrid computing strategy—blending classical and quantum systems—will help address challenges once considered unsolvable,” noted Dr Harrick Vin, CTO of TCS.
Through this partnership, members of the Quantum Valley Tech Park will have access to IBM’s cloud-based quantum systems and Qiskit software platform, expediting quantum algorithm development and reinforcing India’s ambition to become a global quantum technology leader.
The Quantum Valley initiative not only represents a major leap in computing capabilities but also closely aligns with the National Quantum Mission’s vision of positioning India at the forefront of quantum innovation and global competitiveness.
