In a major step towards transforming India’s media and entertainment landscape, the Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CreativeLand Asia (CLA) to establish the country’s first Transmedia Entertainment City — Creatorland — in Andhra Pradesh.
The announcement was made at the prestigious WAVES Summit, held in Mumbai from May 1 to 4, and inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The MoU was signed in the presence of Kandula Durgesh, Minister for Tourism and Entertainment, GoAP. The agreement was formalised by Amrapali Kata, CEO of Tourism, and Sajan Raj Kurup, Founder of Creativeland Studios Entertainment and Chairman of Creators Inc. London.
They were joind by prominent members of the global advisory board, including David Unger (CEO, Artists International), Andy Orrick (Founder, Studio Belong), Jani Guest (CEO, Creators Inc), and Nicolas Granatino (Chairman, Tara Gaming). Several international dignitaries and Hollywood representatives also took part in the event.
Creatorland is envisioned as a unique transmedia hub featuring immersive theme parks, gaming zones, esports arenas, a global cinema co-production zone, and a Virtual Studio Complex equipped with cutting-edge AI-driven real-time rendering and volumetric capture technologies.
With an anticipated investment of Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 crore over the next five to six years, the initiative is expected to significantly boost employment, skill development, tourism, and digital innovation in India. A dedicated Creatorland Academy will train over 10,000 young people annually in VFX, AI, gaming, and immersive storytelling. The project also aims to generate over 1.5 lakh new jobs across the entertainment, technology, and tourism sectors.
CLA is currently in discussions with more than 20 international studios to position India as their production hub, reinforcing the nation’s potential as a global leader in next-generation media and entertainment.
The Creatorland initiative is set to foster cross-border collaboration in AI-led content creation, R&D, generative AI, and intellectual property development, opening up opportunities for both Indian and global talent to innovate and grow within India’s rapidly evolving creative ecosystem.
