Chandrashekar is TG Chief Info Commissioner

The Telangana Government has appointed senior Indian Forest Service officer G. Chandrashekar Reddy as the Chief Information Commissioner.

An official notification regarding this was issued on May 5 by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, marking a significant move in strengthening the State Information Commission.

As per the order, Chandrashekar Reddy will assume charge immediately and hold office for a term of three years or until he attains the age of 65, whichever is earlier, in accordance with the Right to Information Act, 2005, as amended in 2019. The notification has also been sent for publication in the Telangana Gazette.

Chandrashekar Reddy is a 1991 batch IFS officer from the Boregaon village in the Echoda Mandal of Adilabad district. Over his illustrious career spanning more than three decades, he has served in various key capacities, including Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister of Telangana, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, and Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the Telangana Forest Development Corporation.

Known for his expertise in natural resource management, Chandrashekar has held important roles in watershed-based livelihood management, drought and flood mitigation, urban forest parks development, eco-friendly coal mining, and biodiversity conservation.

He has also worked on international projects supported by the DFID, JICA, and held the post of Course Coordinator for IFS and civil service trainees.

His work earned him accolades like the Special Lifetime Achievement Award from the Raj Bhavan, Telangana, and the Indira Priyadarshini Vruksha Mitra Award during his tenure in Singareni Collieries.
