Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directed the entire administration to remain on high alert in the context of India’s military strikes carried out through Operation Sindoor, and called for a solidarity rally on Thursday to signal support for the Indian Army.
The rally will begin at 6 PM on Thursday from the secretariat to the Necklace Road, and will see the participation of the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, ministers, officials and youth.
Reviewing the situation in a high-level meeting on Wednesday after the strikes, the Chief Minister said politics should take a back seat at this critical juncture and urged all political parties to maintain restraint and help send a strong message of support to our armed forces.
As part of precautionary measures, Revanth cancelled all leaves of government employees involved in emergency services and asked all departments to remain on round-the-clock alert. Ministers and officials have been directed to cancel foreign trips and stay fully available to oversee preparations.
The Chief Minister warned of strict action against government employees making controversial statements on social media or to the press. He also announced the launch of a toll-free helpline for the public to ensure access to accurate information.
The CM ordered the police to detain Pakistan and Bangladesh nationals staying illegally in the state and said that robust communication systems should be established at the Command Control Centre to coordinate the government’s response. He stressed that those attempting to disturb peace would face strong action.
The Chief Minister asked health department officials to stockpile blood and emergency medicines and asked private hospitals to frequently update bed availability. He ordered coordination with the Red Cross and other agencies to ensure essential supplies are maintained.
Cybersecurity emerged as a key area of focus at the meeting. The CM ordered the constitution of a special cell to curb fake news and warned of tough action against those spreading rumours to create panic.
Security was tightened at sensitive locations across the State. Police were asked to connect all CCTV cameras in Hyderabad’s commissionerates to the Command Control Room and increase vigilance in district headquarters and sensitive areas. Extra security will be in place at foreign consulates, defence establishments, IT companies and at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. Protection of foreign tourists will also be ensured.
State Intelligence has been directed to work closely with Central agencies, while a special information centre will be set up at the Command Control Centre to monitor security round the clock.
