The Real-Time Governance Society (RTGS) of Andhra Pradesh has drawn praise from Swiss Ambassador Maya Tissafi, who called it an exemplary model of how technology can enhance governance. The Ambassador, accompanied by a Swiss delegation, visited the RTGS centre at the State Secretariat on Wednesday and expressed admiration for the State’s proactive approach.
RTGS Chief Executive Officer Prakhar Jain welcomed the delegation and explained the system’s operations. He noted that RTGS was conceptualised through the visionary leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, with the aim of streamlining service delivery and bridging the gap between the government and the people.
“The system offers real-time technological support to various departments, ensuring timely implementation of government schemes,” Jain explained. He also showcased “Mana Mitra”, the government’s WhatsApp Governance platform, which currently delivers over 290 services directly to citizens. The goal is to scale this to 1,000 services, making governance more accessible and eliminating the need for physical visits to government offices.
He stressed the role of RTGS in collecting citizen feedback to improve departmental performance. The facility also houses a dedicated “Aware Hub” for climate monitoring and real-time weather updates.
Highlighting technological advancements, Jain said the Andhra Pradesh government is extensively deploying Artificial Intelligence and promoting drone technology across departments. The State aims to become the “drone capital of India” by encouraging citizen and departmental use of drones in public services.
Ambassador Tissafi commended Andhra Pradesh’s integrated approach, stating, “Centralised monitoring systems like RTGS are vital for modern governance. It is encouraging to see AP leading the way and setting an example for other Indian States.”
