Former chief minister and YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy consoled the grieving family of martyred soldier Murali Naik at their residence in Kalli Thanda village of Gorantla mandal on Tuesday. In a deeply emotional setting, the parents repeatedly broke down as memories of their son were recalled.
Squatting on the floor with the bereaved family, Jagan paid floral tributes and offered words of comfort. He announced an ex gratia of Rs 25 lakh on behalf of the party, stating that the YSRCP government had set a precedent of honouring fallen soldiers with Rs 50 lakh in compensation.
