Telangana Mahila Congress staged a dharna before the TPCC Chief B Mahesh Kumar Goud’s chamber in Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday, alleging that the Congress party leadership is not giving nominated posts to Mahila Congress leaders. Telangana Mahila Congress alleged that hard-working women are not being given nominated posts. The Mahila Congress demanded the party to give nominated posts to women leaders immediately.

Speaking to the media, Telangana Mahila Congress chief M Sunitha Rao said, “The party is giving position only to the leaders, who have ‘Reddy’ or ‘Goud’ tag in their names. CM Revanth Reddy should answer. The TPCC Chief has given positions to two of his close relatives (sister and sister-in-law) but neglected Mahila Congress leaders. It is not proper for the party leadership to neglect the women leaders who were with the party when it was in trouble. There is no recognition of the women leaders even though they worked hard for the sake of the party, staying away from their families”.

Sunitha Rao further said that they met TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud several times, but there was no use.

Sunitha Rao said, “Gandhi Bhavan belongs to all. The party leadership should tell whether they will give positions or not. Sadly, the party is giving positions to the leaders who did not touch the party flag. The discriminatory attitude of TPCC is not correct”.

However, the Gandhi Bhavan staff made the TPCC Chief B Mahesh Kumar Goud, who is in Delhi, to speak with the Mahila Congress leaders, who were staging a Dharna, when they made it clear that they would not go out from the Gandhi Bhavan if they did not get an assurance on positions. They also made it clear that the party leadership should give positions to the Mahila Congress leaders, following the assurance given by Rahul Gandhi before the elections.

While speaking to the Mahila Congress leaders over the phone, Mahesh Kumar Goud assured that he will discuss with the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and give appropriate positions to the Mahila Congress leaders.

With the TPCC Chief’s assurance, Mahila Congress leaders withdrew their dharna.

Later speaking to the media, Sunitha Rao said, “The party should give positions to the women leaders working for the party for the last 20 years. The party said that it will not give a position to me as contested in Assembly elections. However, the party should give positions to other women leaders. The party should give appropriate positions to women leaders in the party and in the government (Nominated posts) following the words of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.
