Former finance minister Buggana Rajendranath has accused the TDP-led Andhra Pradesh government of fiscal mismanagement, citing alarming trends in the Comptroller and Auditor General’s (CAG) provisional accounts for 2024–25.

In a sharp critique, Buggana said the State had entered a debt trap with little developmental progress. “Despite large borrowings, capital expenditure has fallen by Rs 4,153 crore compared to last year, exposing the government’s hollow claims of creating durable assets,” he stated.

He criticised the revenue expenditure of Rs 2,25,889 crore, pointing to the lack of new welfare schemes.

Revenue receipts, Buggana noted, had dipped to Rs 1,68,443 crore from Rs 1,73,767 crore, while own tax revenue rose by a modest 3.08% and non-tax revenue declined by Rs 640 crore.

Comparing it to the YSRCP tenure (2019–24), he said tax revenues then grew at 10.04% annually, even during COVID-19.
